Northern Ireland families only

The one rule that changes your entire PIP score

PIP isn’t asking what you can do. It’s asking whether you can do it safely, reliably, repeatedly, in a reasonable time — every day. Our NI-specific guides give you the words for PIP and Child DLA.

Why parents stall

The form feels like a trap

You know your child better than anyone. But the wording these forms need is completely different from how you naturally describe their needs.

📋

"I've started the form three times and stopped. I don't know how to explain his bad days without sounding like I'm exaggerating."

🤔

"The supervision section is the part I always get stuck on. It asks about things I've never had to put into words before."

😖

"I'm terrified I'll write something wrong and they'll use it against us at the telephone assessment."

💸

"We were told she doesn't qualify — but looking back, I described an average day instead of her worst days."

DLA to PIP Transition Toolkit

At 16, your child’s DLA doesn’t roll into PIP — it stops, and a fresh adult PIP claim begins. In Northern Ireland that means a new form, a DfC telephone assessment, and descriptors that don’t map cleanly from the DLA one. Built for that exact moment.

What families say

Real NI parents. Real results.

Names shared with permission. These are families who used the guides and told us what happened.

"I had started the form three times and given up. This guide made me realise I was describing his best days, not his worst. We got awarded on first application."

L
Lauren, NI
Mum · More helpful than a paid appointment

"Wow just wow, the detail is incredible. It gave me confidence I wouldn't have had going into this alone. Worth every penny."

P
Patricia, NI
Mum · Granddaughter with additional needs

"I was sobbing in the MLA's office before I found this. Then I used the guide, rewrote the form, and DLA was approved."

C
Claire, NI
Mum · DLA approved after using guide

"The DLA to PIP transition was terrifying. This toolkit turned it from a nightmare into a checklist. The telephone assessment section alone was worth it."

V
Verity
Mum · Son transitioning to PIP at 16
If your claim was refused

Refused doesn’t mean finished

A first refusal isn’t the end of the road in NI. Mandatory Reconsideration is the next step — and many claims succeed there once the right wording is on paper. The NI PIP Answer Bank covers MR wording.

Questions answered

If you're wondering anything…

Is this specific to Northern Ireland? +
Yes — entirely. Every guide is written around DfC (Department for Communities), not DWP. We reference HSC, not NHS. Telephone assessments, not assessment centres. If you're in Northern Ireland, this is written for you.
My child has ADHD and autism — which Answer Bank do I need? +
The NI Child DLA Answer Bank includes both the ADHD version and the Autism version in one download. Combined presentations can draw examples from both sections.
Does my child definitely qualify for DLA? +
We can't make that determination — but many families who believe their child doesn't qualify actually do, because they've been describing average days rather than worst days. The guides help you understand what the form is actually asking.
Why does Gumroad sometimes show USD? +
Gumroad occasionally displays prices in USD, but all transactions process in GBP. You'll be charged in pounds. Your bank statement will show a GBP amount.
Is this legal advice? +
No. These are practical guides to help you understand and complete the forms using appropriate language. For complex cases or appeals, we recommend Citizens Advice NI, the Law Centre NI (028 9024 4401), or a benefits specialist.
Free PIP guide vs the full NI PIP Answer Bank — what’s the difference? +
The free guide explains the one rule that decides how every PIP answer is read — safely, reliably, repeatedly, in a reasonable time. The NI PIP Answer Bank is the full library: 30+ real example answers across all 12 activities, weak vs strong wording, NI assessment prep, and a Mandatory Reconsideration section.
My PIP claim was refused — can the Answer Bank still help? +
Yes. A refusal isn’t the end — Mandatory Reconsideration is the next step in NI, and the same wording principles apply. The Answer Bank covers MR wording and reframing answers that didn’t land first time.
My child is turning 16 — which guide do I need? +
The DLA to PIP Transition Toolkit covers the NI process step by step, including telephone assessment preparation. The NI PIP Answer Bank gives you real wording examples for every PIP activity. Together they cover everything you need.
Does the PIP Answer Bank cover adults — not just young people turning 16? +
Yes. The NI PIP Answer Bank is written for any adult claimant in Northern Ireland — whether you’re making a new claim, going through a reassessment, preparing for a review, or supporting a young person transitioning from DLA at 16. All 12 PIP activities apply to adults, and every example answer is written in language an adult claimant can adapt to their own situation.
